There are different levels of rarity when it comes to shifting. Please look below for those levels.
Common: Smaller animals such as birds of prey (eagles, falcons, owls, etc), big snakes, foxes, badgers...
Uncommon: Bobcat, deer, moose... (small hunters, large non-cat prey)
Rare: Bears, Tigers, other big cats, wolves... (large hunters)
Winter Food Source: Those who find that they're shifting form allows them to shift into prey animal (mice, vole, songbirds, fish, etc) are forced by the rest of the tribe to live in a crevice that serves as a home for them until winter when prey is scarce. The tribe cats then take out these cats and kill them and eat them. Even though cannibalism is frowned upon in any other situation, they see this as a part of life seeing as they believe the gods make their shift forms prey as an omen that it's okay to eat these cats. (all normal cat prey fall in this category)
Cursed: Humans. That's right, humans. Cats who are cursed by the gods will turn into humans a year after being cursed and their memory of the tribe will be lost. They are only attainable as prizes through contests!
God-blessed: Mythical creatures such as dragons, unicorns, phoenixes, etc. They are only attainable as prizes through contests! |

DisordersBSSD BSSD or Blind Shape-shift Disorder is a disorder where the cat is unable to shape-shift on their own. More common in litters with four to six kits, the kits affected by this disorder must be taught by their parents how to shape-shift. It is a hard disorder to beat, but by the time they become apprentices, most kits get it right. The good thing about it; it gives them better control from an earlier age than most.
NCSSD NCSSD or Non-control Shape-shift Disorder is where they cannot shape-shift into their cat forms as easily as other kits. It is basically the opposite of BSSD, but it takes less time to get over and most kits can beat it by their fourth or fifth moon. This is considered worse than BSSD though, seeing as they never really beat it fully. These kits will always have trouble shifting into their cat forms in a quick instance, even as full-grown cats. It, like BSSD, is more commonly seen in litters of four to six kits.
SSAD SSAD or Shape-shift Amnesia Disorder is a less common and much newer disorder that has just been found. It it almost impossible to diagnosis a kit with this disorder for it effects a cat in their shape-shift form only. Cats with this disorder often have trouble remembering what they did in their shape-shift form once they go back to their cat form. It can be annoying when questioned about an event, and it often worries the cat with it, wondering what they did. This disorder usually only effects kits who were the only kit in their litter, for whatever reason. These cats have also been known to be overly-paranoid.
CD CD, also known as Chimera Disorder is easily seen when a cat is born. Cats affected with this disorder are unable to shift into another form because their normal form is a combination of their cat and shift form. For example a cat affected by this disorder will have the body of a cat, but if their shift form is a deer they might have the antlers as well as the hooves in their normal appearance. Chimers only happen in a litter of one and they are known to be sterile right away; this causes females to have a huge disadvantage if born a chimera because they'll be forced out from the tribe. DiseasesDD DD, or known as Daemon Disease, is a rare, but known disease that can sweep through the Tribe. It is unknown when or why this disease comes around, but when it does, it only affects a few cats. Usually it affects two, three tops and that makes cats wonder if it is the gods sending it forth and choosing who it affects. As for what it does and what it causes, it's a very painful disease. Only cats between the ages of one year to three can survive it, seeing as any younger or older will not be able to handle the pain of he massive change. It causes the shift form of a cat, to leave the cat's body and come out into the world as its own being. However, the shift form - at this point called a Daemon - is still bound to their cat masters. They may not go too far from their cat masters. The cat that had once been combined with the Daemon, can still see through the eyes of their Daemon when they please and travel in the mind of their Daemon, but they leave their body vulnerable to attack. Any harm that comes to the Daemon, will hurt their cat master as well and vice versa. However, with DD, comes a new sense of a true friend with their shift form. Their Daemon will protect them as well as they can a bond forms that no other relationship can match.
SFC Shift Form Cold, is a disease that is very contagious when it leaks out. And cat younger than a year and any elder over the age of seven years that catches this sickness, will most likely die due to a lack of strength required to fight it off. The sickness is a common cold, but rather than effecting the cat, it effects their shift form. Cats with the sickness will experience uncontrolled shifts caused by when their shift form coughs or sneezes. If a cat tries to hold the sickness out by staying in their shift form, they'll find themselves simply changing back when they sleep or when the sickness automatically makes them shift back. No-one knows why the sickness is determined to keep a cat from fighting the disease in their normal cat form, it just does. It's because of this constant and unknowing shifting that leads to death for younger and older victims who don't have the strength to put up with the constant changes in their body form. |
