In 1692 in the Ipswich Colony in Massachusetts, five families with magical abilities, referred to as "the Power", formed a covenant of silence to protect themselves from persecution. Four of the five bloodlines (Danvers, Parry, Garwin, and Simms) survive to this day; one family (the Putnams), lusting for more power, was banished, their bloodline disappearing without a trace. As descendants of the original families that settled in Ipswich Colony in the 1600s, the boys have all been given amazing supernatural powers. But their ability to shape-shift, defy gravity and perform superhuman feats of strength comes at a terrible cost: every time one of the Sons of Ipswich uses his magical powers, he ages prematurely, and the temptation to abuse the power makes it more addictive than any drug. What's more, life is only going to get harder for the young friends; they are given a taste of the Power at age thirteen. Then at the moment each boy turns eighteen, he will "Ascend", gaining far more potent —and addictive— powers.
When the descendent of John Putnam Chase Collins comes to town making himself known in the bid for more power he worms his way in to the company of the Sons of Ipswich all the while targeting Caleb for his power. Chase however is found out during a swim meet m by Caleb who is so shocked he cashes into the pool wall but later tells the fellow Son’s of this discovery. It only escalated after that and Chase hospitalizes both Kate and Pouge while kidnapping Sarah Caleb’s girl friend at the time in hopes that Caleb would be forced into will his power to Chase. Then On the night of Caleb's birthday after Caleb Ascends, he and Chase face off in a duel of magic while Sarah's life hangs in the balance. The two throw Power against each other until the barn catches fire. When Caleb's father wills his Power to Caleb at the cost of his own life, Caleb uses the Power to send Chase into a portal. Once the fight is over, Caleb carries an unconscious Sarah outside of the barn and places her on a cart, where she comes to, and Pogue and Kate revive at the hospital. The barn burns down and no trace of Chase can be found anywhere, even though the firefighters have searched the whole area. Wondering where Chase has disappeared to, Caleb and Sarah drive away from the burnt remains of the barn.
Enter the Daughters of Hecate four girls, four different backgrounds but one thing in common other then friendship, they all will ascend in fact one already has. These girls have one over on the boys however when they ascend it is different yet still just as addictive. Coming to Spencer Academy the girls are just tying to settle in but that can be hard when one among your number is more reckless then the rest or the fact that both the Daughters and the Son’s sense something coming and not from each other. Can they learn to work together or will it all fall apart?
More importantly what role do you play?
